Introduction

Have you ever had one of those moments at work where you’re left scratching you’re head thinking “How did I get here?  I’m educated, I’ve worked hard, paid my dues” and yet the situation at hand has the making of a Jerry Springer episode?  That’s Rug Burn, those moments in my line of work that leave you shaking your head in disbelief and sometimes laughing in hysteria.

Lungaretti Flooring was founded by me . . . Laura Lungaretti.  I’m a NJ native who started my career in the textile industry, marketing and advertising for the corporate headquarters of a wallcovering company.  In 1997 I decided I needed a change and Phoenix was the spot I was set on.  First, I needed a job so with absolutely no sales experience I called one of our wallcovering distributors in Phoenix (I mean hey I figured if I could market the stuff, I could sell it right?)  Sure-enough they were hiring, and this is where my commercial sales career began.

It wasn’t long before I realized paint was cheaper than wallcovering and if I wanted to make money, I needed to rethink my product offering.  A friend suggested I interview with a commercial flooring dealership and once again, with no flooring experience I said of course!  (I mean, one goes on the wall and one goes on the floor.  Just need to keep it fuzzy-side up right?!)  I interviewed, was offered the job and have never looked back.  Still don’t know how I got that job, but I’ll be forever grateful they took the chance.

Fast forward to 2018, now on my own and celebrating the 5th anniversary of Lungaretti Flooring!  The journey has been interesting to say the least however in the end I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.  Commercial flooring dealer . . .who would have thought that was even a job - but here I am killin’ it!

Rug Burn is a blog of true and funny tales from the day to day adventures in my crazy world of flooring.

I hope Rug Burn will keep you informed, inspired but most of all entertained.  Because at the end of the day it’s not life or death – it’s just flooring.
